About Us

Our team approach

We take our professional training very seriously and are dedicated to ongoing development of our expertise and skills. Our staff are involved in the teaching of the osteopathic course at UWS. We happily employ talented new graduates from UWS. Our acupuncturist Rebecca also teaches yoga, and our remedial masseurs are highly sought after, with a long and good standing in the community for their work. All of our osteopaths are primary contact practitioners eligible for health fund rebates, and are registered providers of care under relevant rehabilitation acts, allowing them to treat workers compensation cases and CTP injuries.

Experience has shown that using a variety of treatment approaches is the best way for some difficult conditions to improve. For example, acupuncture and remedial massage may be best for some conditions, while others need osteopathy and exercise therapy. The benefit of our team approach is that at Inner West Osteopathy you have a greater chance of finding the right practitioner or a valuable second opinion under one roof. Our skilled practitioners collaborate effectively with one another, sharing knowledge and expertise to identify the optimal approach for each individual.

Which osteopath should I see?

While all osteopaths are able to treat a wide range of difficulties, some of our practitioners have expertise in certain areas, such as acute, especially mechanical low back pain, and disc-type lesions. Others have particular expertise in treating the very young, such as suckling difficulties, torticollis, colic, and early walking difficulties. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to enquire about staff interests and specialities when booking your appointment.

It is important to note that there is no one approach for any problem. Many of our regular patients find they enjoy discovering the small differences between practitioners, and will see any osteopath, depending on their schedule. Patients should feel free to explore differences between practitioners in terms of personality and treatment style.

Do I need a referral? Will Medicare pay for my treatment?

A referral is not needed for patients who come for osteopathy. Treatment involves payment at the time of service, though we do treat people who are referred to us by their Doctor under the Extended Primary Care (EPC) plan, within Medicare. Under EPC, treatment is paid for and a rebate obtained from Medicare. Concession card holders may be bulk-billed by agreement. Likewise, we run accounts for WorkCover and CTP patients, once approval has been given. Osteopaths are fully accredited providers of rehabilitation care under law for workers compensation and CTP injuries.

What about Health Fund rebates?

Payment after treatment allows patients to use the immediate claiming system through HiCaps system, through the Health funds by the major Health funds. The 'gap' payments can be done using the major credit cards or EFTPOS facilities.

Do you offer concessions?

Concession rates are available for osteopathy only, and apply for pensioners, students and concession card holders. We ask concession customers to book prior to 3pm.
